Words are Important
Welcome to my Blog 'Tongue Matters'. We live in a world and in societies where everyone embraces his or her rights to speak his / her mind frankly. However, if we carefully examine our words most of what we say is intended to hurt or demoralize others. Something that we would not like to be done to us.
At other times we speak very negatively about ourselves among our peers and colleagues. For some of us it is the manner in which we were taught to refer to ourselves. We can change that narrative.
Throughout my life, a scripture-by-scripture exploration of the Bible’s teachings on the tongue offers me a clear understanding of how our words influence our lives and relationships. Each of my blog post will focus on specific passages that highlight the power and impact of speech.
For instance, we will begin with James 3:5-6, which likens the tongue to a small spark that can start a great fire. This bible verse is a metaphor which illustrates how minor comments can lead to significant outcomes. Next, we can look at Proverbs 18:21, which states that “the tongue has the power of life and death.” Here, we can discuss how our words have the ability to uplift or harm others.
By examining these scriptures one by one, I hope my readers can gain a greater understanding of the biblical view on words and conversation management. My hope is that this blog not only enhances biblical understanding but also promotes a more intentional and ethical way of speaking about ourselves and others.
Thank you for reading.
